WHERE TO GO IN PARIS

The Off – getting into the right mood in the French Capital

The Off by Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris is THE definitive list of restaurants and bars across the city of lights. Take the time to drop by one or two – and get into the right mood for the show!

Fulgurances La Cave

An evening on the theme of the Jura in a simple and cozy setting at Fulgurances La Cave will be held from 18:30 to 00:00 on Monday 13 February. Located in Paris’ 11ᵉ arrondissement, the cellar come wine bar is a lively place offering much loved bottles and plates imagined by chef Laure Weiss. It will serve traditional dishes from the Jura region, accompanied by three carefully selected cuvées by winemaker Alexandre Plassat, a former student of Jean-François Ganevat, a white, light red and an oxidative maceration. There are two other Fulgurances venues – L’Entrepôt and L’Adresse, a restaurant which acts as an incubator, welcoming young chefs to take over the kitchen in order to refine their identity, test their ideas, and develop their experience.

Bar James Joyce. Pavillon Fbg St Germain

Journey to Marrakech in the heart of the magnificent Majorelle Garden at the 5-star Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain, with a signature cocktail during the three days of the trade show’s OFF site events. The cocktail, signed by the house mixologist, conveys exoticism and invites itself to the Maghreb, giving way to a sumptuous blend which combines freshness, perfume and spices: Tequila Vecindad infused with Raz El Hanout, mango, carrot, lemon, orange blossom honey, egg white. There are plenty of other delicious concoctions to choose from and enjoy while soaking up the jazzy and relaxed atmosphere.

After his venture the Petit Navire, Matthieu Lévy is opening his second address; half-wine, half-food, which boasts more than 150 natural wine references. La Cale, with nautical themed decor, will host a blind tasting of four blended cuvées being offered by the glass on February 14 from 17:00 to 1:00. For guests who successfully guess the grape variety, the glass is on the house! On the plate, the super natural wine bar offers a culinary exploration, with simple preparations and quality products which pair perfectly with a glass or even a bottle of delicious wine for those who wish to push the boat out.

Polissons

This modern and slightly cheeky bistro, opened by Romain Lamon, invites guests to come and (re)discover sake on Wednesday evening, February 15. Located outside Montmartre’s touristic centre, away from the hustle and bustle, the stylish venue has an open kitchen which overlooks the Scandinavian style dining room where customers will be able to sample some of the finest sakes between 19:30 and 00:00. They can also delight their pallets with a meal from the regularly renewed menu, which strikes a balance between essentials and new flavours. When it comes to the wine list, Mr Lamon is accompanied by Julia Sfez, with references from renowned independent estates.
