Ridley Scott hosts Mas des Infermières tasting

Filmmaker Ridley Scott, owner of Mas des Infermières, was on hand to greet visitors at the tasting offered at the estate’s stand on the first day of Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2024.

While Ridley Scott acquired the estate of about twenty hectares set in the heart of the French Luberon appellation in 1992, the renowned director said he was not overly familiar with the wine business. “I love wine, but this is the first time I’ve ever been to an international wine event,” he admitted. “I’m impressed by how vast the industry is.”

Mas des Infermières, located in the heart of the Luberon appellation, in the commune of Oppède, represents the typicality of the Luberon, a terroir that combines the characteristics of the Mediterranean climate of the Rhone region with that of Haute Provence. While Ridley Scott claimed he did not have a favourite among his estate’s wines, staff at the Mas des Infermières stand said that he was very fond of Ombre de Lune 2020, a cuvée made from 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache.

At the Mas des Infermières stand visitors were able to taste Ombre de Lune and were treated to a selection of the estate’s other wines, all of which boast labels imagined and designed by the film director himself. Mas des Infermières also presented its latest cuvée, Jojo, named after Ridley Scott’s dog.
