Champagne Palmer & Co unveils ‘Grands Terroirs 2015’ and puts Montagne de Reims under the spotlight

ADVERTORIAL

The Grands Terroirs cuvées, a historic and emblematic signature of Palmer & Co, captures the essence of its premiers and grands crus from the Montagne de Reims, one of the five sub-regions of the Champagne wine region.

To obtain a perfect blend, the renowned Champagne house combines different grape varieties, crus, vintages and reserve wines. The Grands Terroirs cuvées draws its roots from the iconic crus of the Montagne de Reims and embodies the quest for harmony and balance, which started with its founders over 75 years ago. Palmer & Co’s Cellar Master Xavier Berdin uses a score of Premier and Grand Crus, selected for their identities and expressions from the heart of these Grands Terroirs from the Montagne de Reims, to capture its natural elements.

In the words of Mr Berdin: “A great champagne is first and foremost the right interpretation of what nature gives us. Then comes the know-how that reveals and sublimates these great terroirs by taming their singularities, vintage after vintage. And finally, time – our fourth grape variety – which, after ageing on the lees, will reveal the harmony and balanced characteristic of the Palmer & Co. signature.”

Grands Terroirs 2015, a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir and 12% Meunier, has a subtile nose, with notes of orange blossom and acacia, mixed with yellow fruits, evolving towards gourmet and delicately spicy aromas of pan-fried pineapple and tonka bean. The mouth has a characteristic freshness with citrus fruits, notes of brioche and dried fruits. Its creamy texture stretches and lingers on the pallet. An intense, seductive and very elegant champagne that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or throughout the meal.
