Family owned boutique vineyard presents rare old-world clone of Pinot Noir
Three Feathers Estate & Vineyard produces handcrafted 100% Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines made only with estate-grown grapes.
The family run business, located in the the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon, is known throughout the famous Willamette Valley for producing exceptional Pinot Noir. Comprised of hills between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, the terrain forms a natural heat sink. Sheltered from the winds, it captures the summer heat specific to its microclimate with temperatures seven to 10 degrees cooler than in the valley.
Three Feathers hailed Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023 as an exciting opportunity for it to present its Pinot wines. “Of special mention is our Three Feathers Pinot Madeleine – a rare, old-word clone of Pinot Noir known as Pinot Noir Précoce, Pinot Madeleine & Frühburgunder,” says the winery.
This particular grape has smaller berries and ripens a full three weeks earlier than standard Pinot Noir. Concentrated flavours and elegant aromatics define the winery’s first and second vintages.
The company will also present its bestselling Three Feathers Pinot Gris 2021 at the show. “This second vintage concluded a dry summer season with occasional bursts of heat,” the company comments. “Yields were high and the maturity was perfect to produce a fruity full-bodied wine, exceptional for Pinot Gris. Picked at its peak and pressed right out of the field, our 2021 Pinot Gris was then aged in stainless steel to preserve and express fruit flavours and a light juicy acidity.”
