Nestled in the picturesque Bermersheim vor der Höhe in the historic German wine region of Rheinhessen, Hauck wines boasts a lineage dating back to 1727. The current generation of the family, represented by Jana Hauck and her father Heinz Günter, aim to combine age-old techniques with modern insights.

The Hauck family emphasises controlled yields and manual harvesting as part of their commitment to producing aromatic grapes. In the spirit of innovation and curiosity, they explore a range of different grapes including Riesling, Silvaner and the classic white burgundy grape varieties Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay for whites and Pinot Noir, St Laurent, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for reds. Hauck has also ventured into growing less common varieties like Auxerrois and Albariño, the latter being a proactive adaptation to evolving climatic conditions.

This grape variety’s resilience and ability to thrive in changing environments align with our commitment to sustainable practices, brings a unique flair to our vineyards, and we believe it holds promise for the future of winemaking in our region,” says Jana Hauck.

In 2023, Hauck unveiled “mystique”, a natural wine derived from the Scheurebe grape, a variety with deep roots in German viticulture. The minimal intervention approach used during the production of this wine allows the innate characteristics of the Scheurebe grape to shine, according to the winery. As its name suggests, “mystique” symbolises the enchanting and somewhat enigmatic nature of natural wines, reflecting Hauck’s ambition to harmonise traditional practices with contemporary trends.
