Champagne Gautherot next generation at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris

Sisters Zoé and Eva Gautherot have taken over the reigns of the Gautherot Champagne House since January 2022.

They are the first women for 12 generations to head up the vineyard, where the Gautherots have been making wine for more than three centuries. The domaine is rooted in the clay-limestone soils of the South of Champagne, on the terroir of the Côte des Bars in Celles-sur-Ource. In keeping with tradition, the grapes are rigorously selected and harvest by hand, without using mechanical tools to ensure production of the highest quality.

The sisters will be presenting the fruits of their labour at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023 including their latest cuvée Notes Blanches, a blend of Pinot Blanc (80%) and Chardonnay (20%). This original bottle, with its delicate nose of floral aromas and white fruits, is perfect for sharing during an aperitif or around a meal with very fine dishes. It will be presented alongside their flagship Champagne Exception, made from the vineyard’s best grapes. This cuvée requires careful attention so its extra dry dosage does not hinder the taste, especially when the Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc are blended. It aims to surprise with a slight touch of honey, white peaches, exquisite fine bubbles and extra dry finish. The champagne house will also be showcasing its cuvées Millésime 2013, Brut Nature and Grande Réserve. The latter, composed of Pinot Noir (75%) grapes, which provide fullness and strength, Pinot Blanc (5%), and Chardonnay (20%)is quietly aged for more than 30 months in cool, deep cellars. Other cuvées being highlighted by the Gautherots include Carte D’or and Rosé, made from perfectly ripe and healthy Pinot Noir grapes, with red fruit aromas, particular raspberry and blackcurrant.
