The Venezuelan company is hoping to capitalise on its home country’s impressive reputation as a rum producer
With a climate characterised by its heat and humidity, Venezuela is known as a major rum producer, and Ron Caribú is presenting a string of products at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023 that it hopes will strike a chord internationally.
Products are already sold in the United States and Spain and the company is close to agreeing distribution deals for Canada and India.
There is plenty of scope for further international expansion, with Adriana Laurens, Ron Caribú’s export manager, saying that the firm is seeking international distributors for markets including France, the United Kingdom and Italy.
“This is a good product that is well known”, Adriana said. “The quality is the [key] thing we promote. We have been awarded for five years in a row in international competitions.”
Ron Caribú has three ageing cellers and capacity for more than two million litres between American and French oak barrels.
Among the products on display is Selection Solera, which is light and subtle in the nose with nuances of dry fruits and plum. Another appealing characteristic are the forest aromas.
Blackstrp Spiced, meanwhile, offers a Caribbean character thanks to its careful blend of spices. Highly aromatic, it has a rich sweetness from the sugarcane, while the unique colour is thanks to the extra molasses used during production.
Blanco Supreme, which is also being showcased at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023, is crystal clear and light, and is described as being perfect for mixers and cocktails.
The Ron Caribú stand additionally has Gold Superior on display. This is smooth and sweet in the mouth and has attractive citrus fruit and wood aromas. This gold aged rum has nuances of white American oak.
Ron Caribú’s other products include Twist Coconut, which has a white rum base mixed with natural fruit flavours, and Master Reserve, an exceptional rum with a wide range of influences.
