Luxembourg wines and crémants: A unique taste experience at Wine Paris and Vinexpo Paris 2024

In today’s globalised world, protected designation of origin are regaining in importance and popularity as a mark not only of quality, but of a unique and singular taste in the vast world of wine.

Luxembourg wines are the fruit of their terroir, and as such their strength lies in their tradition and uniqueness of origin. In the heart of Europe, Luxembourg’s vineyards stretch 42 kilometres along the wine route, between the towns of Schengen and Wasserbillig, on the banks of the Moselle. The vineyards can be steep and craggy, at an altitude of 150 to 200 metres above sea level. The wine region covers 1,295 hectares, 1242 of which are cultivated by 251 vineyards.

Luxembourg Moselle is one of the most northern wine growing regions for quality wines. This northern climate requires a high degree of commitment and expertise to cultivate. Winemakers from this region have developed Luxembourg white wine and crémant in just a few decades to produce an authentic and sincere product capable of competing with reputed wines in these categories.

The protected designation of origin label “Moselle Luxembourgeoise” is growing in popularity with an increasing number of wine lovers around the world for its guarantee of unique taste. Since 1991 “crémant” can be used to refer to Luxembourg’s quality sparkling wines that meet the legal criteria. Luxembourgeoise winemakers have harnessed innovation, tradition and creativity over just a few decades in order to create crémants that they claim will find praise “even with the most discerning connoisseurs”.
Luxembourg Crémant is made from healthy, aromatic grapes with a lively acidity that is enhanced by the geographical location of the Luxembourg wine-growing region. The choice of grape variety cuvée and the length of time it is left to rest on its lees leads to unique products which they affirm make Luxembourg Crémant “a special taste experience.”
