Bodega Garzón looks to extend its export reach at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2024

Since it was established in 2008, the family-owned winery on the Atlantic coast of southern Uruguay has forged itself a position as one of the country’s leading exporters of premium wines. Bodega Garzón is back at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris this year, looking to conquer new markets and solidify existing ties.
While the Bodega Garzón saw record turnover last year in the domestic market, it also consolidated its export leadership with one out of every three dollars of the country’s wines sold abroad coming from Bodega Garzón. The Uruguayan winery has already brought its wines to more than 50 countries on all six continents, and Bodega Garzón is responsible for almost 50% of the FOB USD exports in the range of wine above three dollars per litre. But the winery is not resting on its laurels and continues to work on opening and consolidating other markets such as Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Dominican Republic, Israel, Costa Rica, and has also resumed its trips to Asia, launching the Philippines, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka markets.
Beyond its expanding export activity, the company’s hospitality division has also been growing and over the course of the past year has seen its turnover increase by more than 70%. Similarly, the number of visitors to the winery increased by over 50%, reaching a total of 33,000.
In acknowledgement of its excellence, Bodega Garzón received a number of accolades in 2023, including its classification in Wine & Spirits 2023’s ranking among the top 100 wineries in the world for the second time. The Uruguayan wine maker was also recognised by World’s Best Vineyards for the fifth consecutive time in the top 10 wineries to visit, this time in the 6th position worldwide. Additionally, Bodega Garzón’s Albariño Reserva 2022 was chosen in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 and its Single Vineyard Albariño 2022 was awarded 95 points and a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
