The Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023 Opening Cocktail Party welcomed movers and shakers from across the wine and spirits industry
Show organisers and industry leaders marked the start of this year’s trade show with a special inauguration evening being hosted at the Hotel de Talleyrand, also known as “Hotel de Saint-Florentin”.
Attendees included U.S. Ambassador to the French Republic and to the Principality of Monaco, Denise Campbell Bauer and Vinexposium CEO, Rodolphe Lameyse. During her speech, Ambassador Bauer stressed the importance of finding innovative and sustainable solutions to growing food. She highlighted the importance of close international collaboration in order to address these challenges, while also making clear the wine and spirit industry has a key role to play. Speaking at the exclusive event, Ambassador Bauer said: “Since arriving in Paris a year ago, I have been working closely with my team here at the US Embassy to develop strategies to accelerate action on how to grow food more sustainably. Last September, I visited Verzy in Champagne, and I learned (and tasted) how climate has affected the wine industry. Experts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture are collaborating globally, with scientists here in France and even NASA to better understand how we can nurture soils, manage pests and utilize water more sustainably. I am hopeful that these important partnerships will continue to grow and mature like an old grapevine that yields amazing fruit. I am convinced that viticulture can do so much to help lead the world of agriculture to a more sustainable future.”
